The word pheromone comes out from two Greek words “pherein” and “hormone”. Pherein means “to transfer” and hormone means “to stimulate”. Pheromones are natural chemical substance that relates to the terms such fertility, sex, romance and so on.

The pheromone conveys an indication to hypothalamus in the brain. Hypothalamus is nothing but a center emotion of the brain that in turn sends a chemical message of sexual attraction. These pheromones usually detected during the subconscious level or instinctual level.

Otherwise it can also be defined as that one doesn’t have the feelings that they are receiving pheromone but in real they are receiving it.

Pheromones in animals

Apart from human beings, animals, mammals, birds and insects and so on also emit pheromones. Animal pheromones are more powerful than human pheromones. For instance, a dog by emitting natural pheromones has the capacity to drive other dog crazy for sexual desire even if it is away from mails. However, pheromones are gender and specific in species, like moth can respond opposite sex of moth, musk ox responds only to other musk ox pheromones.
